Title:	Northeast Florida Scrub (NEFS) Working Group meeting - “Management and Monitoring of Scrub-Jays in NE FL”

Description:	The meeting will focus on scrub management and scrub-jay monitoring in Northeast Florida. Participants will hear updates on Florida scrub-jay banding and monitoring projects in the area, learn about innovative techniques for managing scrub, and discuss challenges to scrub management and scrub-jay monitoring. We will focus on the above topics for this first meeting but will conclude by discussing future topics of interest such as other taxa and funding opportunities. This working group is bordered on the west by the Oklawaha River, on the south by Orlando, on the east by the Atlantic coast and on the north by the Guana Tolomato Mantanzas NERR and Camp Blanding. Objectives for first Northeast Florida Scrub (NEFS) WG: 1) WG attendees will meet other land managers and biologists in the NEFS WG area. Adam will provide all invitees with a copy of this contact information. 2) WG attendees will understand the distribution of scrub-jays in the NEFS WG area. Adam will provide a map of NEFS WG area scrub-jay populations. 3) WG attendees will understand status of scrub-jay monitoring projects in the NEFS WG area, including banding. Adam will provide a summary of this information to participants. 4) WG attendees will learn from other NEFS WG area land managers about innovative techniques for managing scrub. Adam will summarize these in the WG minutes. 5) WG attendees will understand constraints to scrub management and scrub-jay monitoring in the NEFS WG area. Adam will summarize these in the WG minutes. 6) WG will assemble list of topics for future meetings – what do participants want to get out of these meetings? Adam will summarize these in the WG minutes.
